Building a Capsule Wardrobe

{Links to all products in table below}
In addition to streamlining your existing closet, it’s important to evaluate whether you have the basic building blocks to create a capsule wardrobe. For me, these basic pieces are the ones displayed above. These 28 pieces can all be easily mixed-and-matched or layered together to form a number of casual to dressy looks. Once you have these basic building blocks, you can easily incorporate additional one-off pieces and feel confident that you’ll have something to wear them with. Plus, most of these pieces are trans-seasonal, making them well worth the investment! I’ve linked to all of these items below as well as shared a few tips on pairing these pieces together. These pieces can be found at a number of stores so my advice as you start shopping is to use these items as a guideline and to buy them in the classic colors talked about in this post (white, navy, black, tan, pale pink, etc.) so you can get the most wear from them.

Sweaters
Shirts

Lace top: Pair with the navy midi skirt and strappy heels for an extra girly look.

Classic chambray shirt: Great for layering under the sweaters listed above.

Jackets
Tees
Leather jacket: Take the edge off this jacket by pairing it with the lace top.

Light weight coat: I am a huge proponent of colorful coats. Winter is already dreary enough!

Jean jacket: Dress your LBD down by throwing a jean jacket over it.

Long sleeve tee: Dress the black joggers down by wearing this tee and these booties.

White tee: Pair with the open cardigan, scarf, jeans, and flats for a casual weekend outfit.

Striped tee: Wear this tee tucked into the pale pink mini skirt for a preppy, spring look.

Pants
Skirts
Black joggers: Love these dressed up with heels or down with flats.

High-rise dark skinny jeans: For an unexpected look, where the striped dress over these jeans.

White trousers: For a lady-like look, pair these with the lace top and light weight pink coat.

Pencil skirt: I love the way that black, tan, and chambray looks together. Pair this pencil skirt with the tan crew neck sweater and chambray shirt. Dress it up with the classic black heels.

Shoes
Dresses

Shirt dress: In the fall, pair this dress with the floppy hat and booties. Transition into spring by pairing with flats and the jean jacket.
