Maximizing your maxi

Maxi dress (old, other options I like here, here, and here) // Sweater (old, similar here) // J. Crew Factory pendant necklace // Heels (old, similar here and here; I also love these style of heels and would pair them with this look) // Belt

Happy Friday, friends, and happy April! I am so ready for warm weather and to be able to pull out all of my summer dresses. Until it warms up though, I will be maximizing the wear of my maxi dresses with this easy trick: layering on a pullover sweater for (a) warmth and (b) to create an entirely new look. All I did to create this look was take a thin, waist belt, similar to this J.Crew one, buckle it around the highest part of my waist, and then lightly tuck a few inches of the sweater into the belt. I tuck just enough in to then be able to slightly pull it out to give a folded over appearance that's not bulky.

The Old Navy maxi dress that I am wearing in this post is actually a spaghetti strap dress that I would typically reserve for the hottest part of the summer. While I may throw on a cardigan or denim jacket over this dress for cooler spring days, it's still just a dress. I love this trick because it transforms your maxi dresses into an entirely new and unique outfit! While the dress that I am wearing in today's post is from last year, you could easily pull off this trick with one of these three options: 123

I'd love to know, have you ever tried this layering trick on any of your maxi dresses?
